Why has my water pressure dropped in my Dubai apartment and who fixes it?
The water pressure in my Dubai apartment shower has dropped dramatically over the past few months — it used to be fine. I'm on the 18th floor of a tower in JLT. What causes low water pressure in a Dubai high-rise and is it my problem to fix or the building management's?

Low water pressure on a high floor in a Dubai tower is a very common issue and almost always a building infrastructure problem — not something you've caused or need to fix yourself. The most common causes: Pump failure or reduced pump capacity in the building's water pressure system. Partially closed isolation valve somewhere in the building's supply to your floor. Scale buildup in older pipework reducing flow. High demand periods (morning and evening) when all residents are using water simultaneously. Whose responsibility: The building management's. The water supply infrastructure serving your apartment is their responsibility to maintain. Report it in writing to your building management, specifying it's on your floor/unit and asking them to check the pressure pump and isolation valves. What you can do yourself: Check whether your neighbours on the same floor have the same issue — if so, it's definitely a building problem and escalation is easier. Check the isolation valves under your sinks and behind your toilet aren't partially closed. If the issue is only in the shower, the shower head may be blocked with limescale — try soaking it in descaler overnight.
