Is it worth getting professional curtain cleaning in Dubai or should I just replace them?

For quality curtains in Dubai, professional cleaning is almost always worth it over replacement. Good curtains can cost AED 500-3,000 or more per panel. Professional in-situ cleaning typically costs AED 30-80 per panel, so the maths strongly favour cleaning.

Beyond cost, cleaning removes accumulated dust and allergens. In Dubai where fine particulate matter builds up quickly, curtains act as filters and become heavily loaded with dust within 12-18 months. This affects indoor air quality and can contribute to respiratory issues.

When replacement makes more sense: if the curtains show significant fading from UV exposure. Dubai's sun bleaches fabrics quickly, especially light colours facing south or west. Cleaning will not restore sun-damaged colour or repair brittle fibres. If curtains are already structurally compromised, cleaning is money wasted.

Two main professional methods are used in Dubai. In-situ steam cleaning is done while the curtains hang in place, which is convenient and avoids any shrinkage risk. Take-down and launder services are more thorough but more disruptive. For heavy fabrics, velvet, or significantly soiled curtains, take-down is usually the better option.

For move-out situations, professional curtain cleaning with a receipt from a licensed company is good documentation if there is a deposit dispute about curtain condition.
