Are there child-safe ant control options in Dubai?

Yes — there are very effective child-safe ant control options in Dubai and you're right to avoid harsh chemical sprays around young children. Here are your options in order of safety: Diatomaceous Earth (completely non-toxic): A natural powder made from fossilised algae that kills insects by damaging their exoskeleton without any chemical toxicity. Completely safe for children and pets. Apply around the entry points and along ant trails in the garden. Available from pet stores and garden centres in Dubai. Borax gel bait (low toxicity): Products like Terro Ant Killer use a borax-sugar mixture. Borax is toxic to ants but very low risk to children and pets in the concentrations used. The ants carry it back to the colony. Keep bait stations in locations children can't reach. Professional gel bait treatment: Licensed pest control companies in Dubai can use professional-grade gel baits that are far more effective than retail products. Ask specifically for a child-safe or low-toxicity treatment when booking — reputable companies have these options. Essential oil barriers: Peppermint oil, cinnamon, and citrus peel along entry points deter ants without chemicals. Less effective for severe infestations but good as a supplement. What to avoid near children: pyrethrin sprays, permethrin, and general insecticide fogging. For a villa garden with persistent ant problems, a professional gel bait treatment (AED 150–300) targeting the colony is the most effective and safest resolution.
